Friday, May 09, 2008 By John Bagley Track and field twins set sights on top spots for CCS
Their coach can't tell them apart and neither can their teammates or friends. Even Sarah and Lila Yoldi's parents sometimes confuse the identical twin senior athletes at San Benito High School.
But there is one easy way to distinguish the two and it can be found in the track and field events that they excel in. Sarah is best at hurling the discus and Lila recently set the San Benito High School record for the shot put, tossing the heavy steel ball 39 feet, 10.5 inches. Both currently lead the Tri County Athletic League in their respective events and both have the ability to do well enough at next week's Central Coast Section meet to qualify for the prestigious state championships.

At one time or another, we've all played a game of tetherball. You know the one: Keep smashing the ball on the rope as hard and as often as you can - in one direction - until it wraps itself around a pole, all while your opponent is trying to hit it the other way.

No. 1 seeded Baler softball team looks to three-peat
The games don't get under way until next week but already there's a clear-cut favorite to win the Central Coast Section Division I softball tournament: San Benito High School.
In fact, it's hard to imagine any team ousting the Balers - a team that not only went undefeated in league but one that's looking to win its third Section title in a row. Read more...

Press pass NFL drafts marketing genius
The NFL is amazing. Every corporation in America ought to draft the NFL's marketing team. That would probably turn the economy around.
Think about it. The NFL can get people to watch football even when it's not football season. Here we have the Stanley Cup playoffs going on, the NBA playoffs in full swing, golf, baseball, auto racing and more, and yet ESPN is picking up impressive Nielsen ratings numbers on its draft day coverage at a time when we should all be boating at Lake Anderson.
